One of the Foundation’s objectives is to give back to the people of the Himalayas everything they gave to Iñaki throughout his life. When Mingma, Iñaki’s cook on several expeditions but above all a personal friend and current coordinator of SOS Himalaya in Nepal, told us about the needs of his village, Seduwa, we did not hesitate to intervene.
Seduwa is a village in the Makalu Valley with a population of about 20,000 people (according to the 2011 census). 90% are illiterate, and they are engaged in agriculture.
One of the basic needs is healthcare, as the nearest healthcare center is in the town of Num Bhazar, a day’s walk away. That’s why we are immersed in a major project to provide them with a small hospital that covers the minimum health needs.
